Jeremy Moon – a retrospective

Curated by Daniel Sturgis and Richard Kirwan.

Kettle's Yard, Cambridge, 10th November 2001 – 6th January 2001
Graves Gallery, Sheffield, 22nd December 2001 – 2nd  March 2002
Harris Museum and Art Gallery, Preston, 10th February –11th April 2001

The project was of interest to us as this, then marginalised, body of paintings contained a relaxed and playful attitude to formalism which seemed at odds to the time they were made, and of specific interest to painters re-investigating the legacies of abstraction in a contemporary context.

Subsequent to co-curating this retrospective, Moon’s work has re-found critical success resulting in a solo presentation at Tate Britain in 2007.

A full colour catalogue accompanied this exhibition with essays by Marco Livingstone and Martin Coomer. The catalogue is available by mail order from the Harris Museum and Art Gallery.
